Jonathan Bird's Blue World is an educational family-oriented underwater adventure series being co-produced by Jonathan Bird Productions and Oceanic Research Group. It is hosted by dynamic naturalist and underwater photographer Jonathan Bird. The format is magazine style, with short 7-10 minute segments each containing a complete adventure story with an educational component. For television, these segments are packaged with 3 segments in a half-hour episode. For internet delivery, each segment is self-contained. Segments encompass a variety of subjects, including stories about animals, stories about marine research and researchers, underwater exploration and recent discoveries. The stories will always have an underwater theme and will feature stunning underwater photography. The programs are geared towards a younger audience, but please do not consider it a "kids" show. Anyone from 6 to 60 will enjoy this series! We have filmed the first 10 segments in standard definition. All will be available to view here as they are edited. The program will appear on PBS in the USA starting in May, 2008. We are working with the non-profit educational organization Oceanic Research Group to find funding to complete the second season (39 segments, or 13 half-hour programs) in High Defintion. Study guides for educators are now available for all segments. You can follow the production by reading our BLOG page. We are interested in speaking to anyone that might like to get involved in the underwriting of this educational series. Please do not contact us with resumes for interest in working on the series--we already have a complete film crew. If your company would liketo provide financial backing in exchange for incredible exposure on public television, please contact us. We are seeking a corporate sponsor. Please contact us for details!!
